Location and Access to Alicante, Alicante

Plains, Trains and Automobiles

With an international airport in its backyard that serves 22 nations, 20 European capitals and over a dozen UK cities, Alicante could not be easier to get to. Those of you popping over from the UK will have only 2-1/2 hours to eat all those in-flight peanuts.

With a major RENFE train station in the city centre, Alicante is just as connected by rail as it is by air. Regular daily trains service Madrid (3-3/4 hours), Barcelona (4-1/2 hours), Valencia (1-1/2 hours) and Murcia (1-1/2 hours). Think of all the weekend possibilities!

The road networks surrounding Alicante are excellent and whether you're heading north to Valencia and Barcelona, south to Andalucía or west into the interior and Madrid, you're in for smooth sailing.

El Altet Airport is about 12km south of the city centre. The No C-6 bus runs between the airport and Plaza Puerta del Mar in central Alicante (passing the bus station) every 40 minutes. It's a breeze.

El Altet Airport has multiple local car rental agencies, as well as international operators like Avis, Europa and Europcar. Cars are usually easy to come by, though it's best to book in advance to save waiting in line and to guarantee your choice of vehicle. It's also easy to pick up a rental car in town.
